Cooling East Somerville Microgrant Application
The Cooling East Somerville microgrant program is a pilot program that intends to depave private properties in East Somerville to reduce paved surface and create more shade and vegetated areas.

Depaving is the act of removing paved surfaces, such as driveways or paved over yards, and replacing the area with pervious surface, especially green space like trees and native or pollinator plants. Increasing pervious surfaces is a strategy to reduce heat risk, add stormwater absorption benefits, and provide more greenspace.

This is a reimbursement style microgrant with awards based on area to be depaved and planted and other site conditions. Properties are eligible for up to $15/square foot of reimbursement for property depaved and planted with a total maximum reimbursement of$5,000 per property. You can apply for this microgrant below, and if your property is eligible, and chosen, then you will receive conditional acceptance.
